Amazon.com Product Description
The Canon EOS Rebel G is a fully automatic, ultracompact, and quiet SLR camera that comes equipped with a built-in retractable flash. This deluxe kit includes the camera body and a 28-80mm detachable Canon EF zoom lens, plus accessories not found in the standard kit--a UV filter, wide shoulder strap, padded Canon gadget bag, lens-care kit, minitripod, and display photo album.

The Rebel G features a high-speed, selectable, three-point autofocus system and Canon's exclusive AIM (Advanced Integrated Multipoint) control system, which links the Rebel G's three-point autofocus to multizone metering for available light and flash. It offers 11 exposure modes (full auto to metered manual with indicator), plus multiple exposure, exposure compensation, and autoexposure bracketing. The Rebel G features an enhanced command dial for mode selection, and is fully compatible with Canon's complete line of EF autofocus lenses and EOS system specialties, including battery pack BP-8, grip tripod GR-80TP, and remote switch RS-60E3.

Features like autoexposure bracketing (in one-half stop increments up to plus or minus two stops) and E-TTL autoflash (enables high-speed synch for automatic fill flash), as well as improved control of red-eye reduction, the in-focus beeper, and the autoexposure lock, make the EOS Rebel G more advanced than previous Rebel models.

5 out of 5 stars Love it so far!   January 18, 2002

Even though my wife gave me this camera for Christmas, I did the research on the prices so that I would get the most out of my gift. I could not find all the stuff included in this kit anywhere else for under [PRICE]. I always liked the shots I got with my other cameras, but what great pics this one produces (this is my first SLR camera). Lots of settings to play and experiment with. Also, look closely at the picture of the lens. It is a 28 x 90, not the 35 x 80 that is advertised. Just try to find that lens with this body for this price anywhere else. The 28 makes a BIG difference for your indoor shots. I hope I don't have the problems Craig Prater wrote about in his review. I know a few people who also own this model and have not had a problem, so HOPEFULLY, his cameras problem was a fluke. I've shot many rolls since Christmas and love the quality. I'll keep my fingers crossed at the year and a half mark.

I bought this camera specially for learning professional photography, the Canon EOS Rebel G Date gave me more than I expected. Its light weight body and comfortable design makes it ideal for holding steady in those low shutter speed shots and overall carrying, my first roll was amazing! the colors were vivid and the subjects very sharp, I couldn't believe a beginner like me took those proffesional-looking pictures so easily. I definitively recommend the Canon EOS Rebel G

I am the mother of two young children. I wanted an SLR camera that provided me with more options and better pictures that my point and shoot has. I shopped for months before choosing one that I liked. Canon has a reputation for producing the best. I am very pleased with my Rebel G. I especially like the quartz date option. It is easy to use for a beginner and the quality is great. I highly recommend this camera for ease, quality, and value.

5 out of 5 stars So nice I bought it twice   November 22, 2002

I bought the Rebel G nearly 2 years ago and loved it immediately. I took it on a 16-day trip to Great Britain a year ago, and unfortunately lost the camera and all my undeveloped film on the way home. I was heartbroken, but the pictures were replaced by those taken by others on the trip, and I went out and bought the same terrific camera again. The pictures are so clear, the metering is very accurate, and it's comfortable to hold and use. Having a camera this good encourages me to take more pictures than I did with my old point & shoot.

I gave this camera to my sister for her high school graduation. She has already shot about 10 rolls of film in two months. All the pictures have come out crystal clear regardless of who took the pictures. She's still learning how to use all the options, but using the automatic flash and focus hasn't lessened her joy.
