Product Description The EOS Rebel K2 has a full package of exciting, automatic functions combined with single-handed operation and incredible SLR performance. An advanced, lightweight, ergonomic design houses a full set of controls and information displays, all presented with exciting, tough to beat look and style. The K2 is the next step in SLR's revolution. 7-point High Speed Autofocus System - Futuristic Styling, Innovatiove Control Layout and A Faster, Wider Autofocus. The Rebel K2's seven focusing points read a wide area of a scene to give you exquisitely precise focus -- even when your subject is off-center. The K2 detects whether your subject is moving or still, and instantly adjusts the autofocus to match. Specialized shooting modes like Portrait, Landscape or Sports pre-set the focusing for the subject at hand. There's even a Continuous Shooting Mode to capture sequential action at a fast, silent 1.5 frames per second (fps). 35-zone Metering System Linked to 7-point Autofocus - Fool-Proof Exposure Metering. Getting the right exposure is what separates an ordinary picture from an extraordinary one. That's why the Rebel K2 is equipped with a 35-zone metering system. Linked to the 7 AF focusing points, the K2's 35-zone metering system gives you accurate, consistent exposure even in tough shooting conditions -- like strong backlight. In addition to the K2's standard evaluative metering pattern, the camera also offers central-area partial metering covering 9.5% of the picture area. This feature is available in all Creative Zone shooting modes. 12 Shooting Modes including 7 PIC (Programmed Image Control) Modes - Programmed Image Zone and Creative Zone - More Fun, Better Pictures. Sometimes you want complete creative control. Other times, you just want to shoot. The Rebel K2 gives you the options to do both, easily. 7 programmed Image Modes let you handle common shooting situations automatically like a pro. For maximum self-expression, 5 Creative Modes

A great camera February 10, 2004 George (Texas) 193 out of 197 found this review helpful
This is the new version of the EOS Rebel 2000 (they called it "K2" instead of "2K", I suppose in order to avoid giving the impression that the camera is 4 years out of date, which it is not). It is simply a great camera at a great price. It works as well as any 35mm camera on the market, has a reasonably fast winder, and best of all it takes all of the huge variety of EF Canon lenses. It is actually very light, so you can carry it around without fatigue, or you can bulk it up by adding the extended grip (which gives it a very nice feel). The zoom lenses are a little slow. I recommend that you get the body only, and start with the 50mm f/2.8 MKII lens, which is a steal at about $70. Together, they make an outstanding, affordable, high-quality package for those of us who still love film more than digital.

I am very pleased with this camera. I especially like the light meter that tells you how many apertures you are away from the correct exposure. I am using this for my photo class and is easy to use.
Cool Camera August 30, 2005 Michael K. Brady (Los Angeles) 83 out of 90 found this review helpful
The photos are exceptional. It was very easy to learn how to use the features. I have taken some great photos with it, much better than my digital. I have not encountered any problems. I took it on a long (over a month) trip where it was subjected to rough treatment and extreme weather. It came through with flying colors. Rock solid.

I bought this a year ago and have taken many great pictures with it. It's light, has many features and can be used as an automatic when all you want to do is point and click. I can't recommend it enough.

I was looking for a film 35mm SLR and found this one on Amazon, I love it, I have the Canon Rebel XT and wanted a Canon SLR. I love how the film automatically advances the film and displays how much film you have left, and the speed of the film. I also like this camera because you can set it to AV/TV/M and play with the apertures, and shutter speed, and if you don't want to use these features you can set it to the basic zones where everything is automatic. I am still getting used to the settings but my pictures so far have developed very nicely.
