Led by the Civic Committee of The Commercial Club of Chicago, the city’s business and civic community responded to Mayor Daley’s call to action.  A $2.5 million challenge grant from the Searle Funds at the Chicago Community Trust spurred an unprecedented level of support of this bold effort to transform Chicago’s public schools.  Some donors have chosen to give anonymously.
