On June 2004, 2004, Mayor Richard M. Daley, Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan and Chicago’s business and civic communities announced a bold initiative, Renaissance 2010, to transform the Chicago Public School system by creating 100 new public schools to provide all families with high-quality educational options.
The Renaissance Schools Fund is an independent nonprofit organization that serves as the partner in the fundraising, strategy and accountability for Renaissance 2010.
"After nine years of progress, many of our schools consistently perform better, but others don’t. The fundamental goal of Renaissance 2010 is to turn around Chicago's most troubled elementary and high schools by creating 100 new schools.
